GEORGIA TECH UNIVERSITY – JOHN & JOYCE CADDELL BUILDING

Additions and Renovations

An existing 11,000 SF garage building on the Georgia Institute of Technology central campus has been renovated to house the School of Building Construction, complete with faculty offices, collaborative student work areas, and innovative flexible learning spaces. Our project re-utilized the existing hybrid concrete and steel frame structure and replaced the former infill facade with a fully glazed curtain wall along the east elevation. The cantilevered canopy shades not only the entire building but adjacent campus pedestrian pathways as well. Due to a whole-building shading strategy, and achievement of daylighting and views for 100% of occupied spaces, the project received a LEED Platinum rating.
